As an admitted snob and part-time ‘foodie’, I was SHOCKED at how good this place is. Fresh ingredients, excellent food (!!!), and friendly, attentive service.
At first glance, Ruckus seemed to have all the hallmarks of a family-friendly chain restaurant, such as Chili’s, Red Robin, On the Border, etc. It’s got a fun name, it’s kid friendly, and has a huge menu that will appeal to just about everyone. For me, that historically translates to a high volume business with low standards in food prep, an inexperienced staff, and uninspired, journeymen cooks.
This couldn’t be further from the truth with Ruckus. My wife had been several times with the kids and kept insisting that we go. After dragging me there – kicking and screaming – I’m so glad that she did. This place is truly a great restaurant. We had a range of food on the table and I tried it all: sushi (nigiri and cut rolls), two kinds of pizza, fries, fried pickles, and a Mahi sandwich. All I can say is, “Wow.” EVERYthing was cooked to perfection. The fries and fried pickles were not greasy and were done exactly right. The pizzas were as good as any I’ve had in NC. The Mahi sandwich was fantastic. But the best part – and the most surprising – was the sushi!
